60 Second Rounds
‘Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.’
– Mary Shelley
The mother of science-fiction gave us this glorious quote to inspire us this month with our businesses. Although we would like to add that quite often we are completely full of fear when it comes to starting and running a business!
But… we do it anyway. So, are we really fearless, or merely finding ourselves stuck in another emotion? Because if we were truly living in fear, we would never start our businesses, let alone continue running them whenever a bump came along.
Seek support
The quickest way to help you overcome any fears you have in business, is to seek support from others doing as you are, as they are likely to have experienced exactly the same at one point or another.
Most business problems can be resolved fairly quickly with the help of other businesswomen and there is certainly a lot of experience in Ladies That Do Networking, from designing your branding to catch the right audiences’ interest, to handling your accounts, from making sure your social media presence is spot on and that your website is perfectly positioned to make an impact. We have ladies who can help you make the most of your home and business premises with the right flooring, as well as making sure you feel as powerful as this month’s quote with the right treatments for your mind and body – so that you can focus on delivering the best experience for your customers.
Our reach in the business community does not end there, we know many more business people, men and women, across Hinckley and beyond, and we can give you a personalised recommendation on the merits of each if we know more than one.
What do you do actually do though, to gain that Fearless and Powerful feeling? First off, take time out. That’s the biggest one. Go and spend time with your family and friends and spend some time in nature. Reconnect with yourself by removing yourself from the things that cause the fear, the anxiety, and find a way forward.
Do not try to be perfect
Next, do not try to be perfect. You will realise that there is a lot more grace given to you when you allow imperfections to arise and dealing with them, rather than stamping them down.
And lastly, talk about it. Talk to a friend, talk to family, and talk to us. Each of the organisers of Ladies That Do Networking have seen it all in business, come and ask our advice and gain a shoulder to lean on when the going gets tough for a little while.
We would love to hear about how you overcame fear in your business. If you’re happy to share that with us, please email [email protected] with your story.
We would also love to know about how you are powerful in your business. What gives you the edge over the other businesses just like yours in the town? Please share it with us and maybe you will be featured on our social media channels.
One last thing
We will leave you with this thought this month: be more Mary Shelley. The mother of science-fiction, who forged her own path through life rather than being dictated to by the men of the world. The woman who penned the most powerful story of family, society, isolation, and ambition. The woman of the woman who was the mother of the suffragette movement, and feminism itself. Go out and inspire yourself and the women around you to keep breaking ground… and glass ceilings.
BEWARE; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.
