Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Business
“You have the power to change your life. Just start with changing your thoughts.”
– Mel Robbins
I want to say something that sounds simple but actually matters a lot.
Most of the time when we talk about growing a business, we talk about doing more. Post more. Network more. Try harder. Be more confident.
And yes, all that matters. Obviously, it does.
But honestly, so much of what holds us back has nothing to do with effort and everything to do with what’s going on in our heads.
The way we think about ourselves affects everything
Whether we go for the opportunity or talk ourselves out of it. Whether we charge properly or lower our prices “just in case”. Whether we put ourselves out there or stay quiet because we don’t want to get it wrong.
We at Ladies That Do Networking see so many capable women waiting until they feel ready. Waiting until they feel confident. Waiting until they have it all figured out.
And the thing is, that moment usually doesn’t arrive on its own
Confidence doesn’t show up first. Action does. And action is much easier when you stop being so hard on yourself.
It can be as small as changing one thought. Instead of “Who do I think I am, doing this?”, try “Why not me?” Instead of assuming everyone else knows more, remind yourself how much you’ve already learned by just doing the work.
When that shift happens, even slightly, you move differently. You speak differently. You show up differently. People can feel it.
Not about pretending
And no, this isn’t about pretending to be confident or repeating cheesy affirmations. It’s about catching yourself when you’re tearing yourself down and asking, “Would I say this to a friend?” Because if the answer is no, maybe it’s time to change the tone.
This is also why being around other women helps so much. You hear someone else say out loud the exact doubt you’ve been carrying and suddenly it loses its power. You get reminded of what you’re good at when you’ve forgotten. You borrow a bit of confidence until yours kicks in again.
You don’t need to overhaul your mindset or become some strange version of yourself overnight.
You just need one small shift
I can do this.
I’m allowed to be here.
My ideas are worth sharing.
That’s usually enough to get you moving. And once you’re moving, everything else starts to follow… and if you still feel stuck, go for a walk and boost your thoughts and feelings naturally.
You’re doing better than you think… something that we in the leadership team need reminding of too – you are not alone in this.
See you at the next meeting.
Thank you for reading this month’s blog, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Business.
